4 Example Study I: The evolution of you

Previous Next

This example study is supposed to compare the usage of the search interfaces provided by the literature databases with the application of the linguistic tool WordSmith on the raw data of these databases. Since the main purpose of this section is to explain how to use literature databases in detail, a comparison of the results with those of an analysis based on historical reference corpora, as Schlüter does in the chapter, will be omitted. The topic chosen for the first example is the evolution of the second person pronoun, you.
