1.3.5 Statistical know-how

Parent Previous Next

In order to conduct a study of scientific value, it is indispensable to have a deeper statistical knowledge, not only in terms of analysing the results, but also when it comes to the designing of a scientifically useful questionnaire. It would be ideal if an entire team of linguists together with a statistician designed the experiment to make sure on the one hand that all linguistically relevant features of the item under investigation are taken into consideration and on the other that the questionnaire meets the necessary statistical demands. Therefore, a combination of both a deeper linguistic and statistical competence is required to guarantee the reliability and the scientific nature of the study.
