NLP - Natural Language Processing

NLP – Natural Language Processing – an area of computational linguistics that deals with automatic speech synthesis and recognition, natural language understanding and generation, as well as machine translation. NLP often involves the computational analysis of corpora for purposes of modeling natural languages. As processing of natural language requires decoding grammar, researchers in this area have contributed to developing automatic taggers and parsers for large corpora (cf. Baker 2006: 121; Meyer 2002: xiii; van Halteren 1999: 35-36).
