GRIES’ Statistics for linguistics with R tries to explain statistics in a way so that students will understand what they do and why they do it, but without going too deep into mathematics. It is almost identical to GRIES’ 2008 book concerning the methods mentioned, but with a more detailed description of how to apply them in R, which makes it a very accessible book.
In addition, the many think breaks, warnings, exercises (with answer keys on the companion website), and recommendations for further reading, not forgetting additional code files for each chapter, encourage further thoughts and ideas.
