parsing

parsing – a type of syntactic annotation, which analyses syntactic structures by indicating their respective constituents (ie. noun phrase, verb phrase, prepositional phrase, etc.) and which represents grammatical relationship within a sentence by assigning grammatical category tags to each word (cf. McEnery and Wilson 1996: 178; Baker 2006: 127; McEnery, Xiao and Tono 2006: 348; Anderson and Corbett 2009: 34-36).
