Admission and Enrolment

Admission requirements

The bachelor’s degree programme in Archaeology can be started either in the winter or summer semester.

You should be flexible and resilient, and should be interested in history. Working outside – whatever the weather – is part of any archaeologist’s life. On archaeological excavations, teamwork and good social skills are crucial. Care and perseverance are also needed for the academic analysis of features and finds.

Good foreign language skills, particularly in English, are another condition for being able to complete this programme successfully.

Language skills in German

Please note! The programme is primarily taught in German. For enrolment and successful studies,
you need knowledge of German at least at level B2
(legally stipulated here Immatrikulations-, Rückmelde- und Exmatrikulationssatzung)
of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Application

Please note! You have to apply in advance. This is done via online application process. Prospective students applying for the Bachelor’s Degree Programme who have a foreign nationality and a foreign university entrance qualification must apply to the Studierendenkanzlei. Our colleagues will evaluate if your application fulfils the required higher education entrance qualification and the respective necessary German language skills.
