The Department of Business Education of the University of Bamberg has considerable experience in the field of teacher education, especially for vocational schools for business and commerce. The Bamberg university school concept builds on the idea of establishing local communities of teaching, research and development. In the area of teaching, the Bamberg university school program is a compulsory partner of the master’s program of Business Education. Within these, selected and specialized teachers supervise groups of up to five university students at vocational schools. The teachers act as mentors for the students and provide useful support, bridging the gap between theory and successful application in the classroom.

The lnstituto de Educação (IE) is one of the 18 Faculties of the Universidade de Lisboa, carrying out research in education, teaching activities, and service to the community. IE carries out various community service activities, with emphasis on intervention and curriculum development projects in response to requests by the Ministry of Education, evaluation studies asked for by external institutions and continuing education courses for teachers of different school levels and for other professionals. Research carried out at IE studies educational and training processes, organizations, and their representations in the fields of formal and non-formal education and training at macro, meso and micro level of educational phenomena. The purpose of this research is to yield a multidimensional understanding of educational and training actors, processes and organizations, diagnosing problems and needs, and to provide power for knowledge-based intervention in such systems. As part of our  community ties, the IE developed a network of partner schools called "Rede Escola". These are schools where we not only developed research projects, but also support through consultancy and ln-service training opportunities, and also use as privileged placement opportunities for our initial teacher training students.

Department of Educational Sciences (DES) is a part of the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University, the largest faculty of MU. DES has annually approximately 600 students in study programs with the Bachelor, Master and Doctoral Degrees, both in full-time and part-time forms. Among others, it offers the following study programs: Educational Science, Social Pedagogy and counseling, and Adult Education, the doctoral program of Educational Science has 44 students. At the same time, DES is actively involved in the study program Teacher Education and guarantees Teacher Education for many study programs at the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Masaryk University. It also offers accredited courses, of further professional education for school counselors and school leadership. 

DES has been implementing a number of national and international research and development projects, many of which are thematically related to teaching, leadership and management of schools and to support of inclusive education.

Founded in 1743, FAU has a rich history. It is a strong research university with an international perspective and one of the largest universities in Germany, with 39.780 students, 265 degree programs, 4,000 academic staff members (including over 579 professors), 177.6 million euros (2016) third-party funding, and 500 partnerships with universities all over the world. Teaching at the University is closely linked to research and focuses on training students in both theory and practice to enable them to think critically and work independently. The research itself also strikes the perfect balance betwe3en a theoretical approach and practical application. Ensuring and developing the quality of teaching and studying is key goal at FAU. In this context, the University is using the broad range of subjects that it offers as a strategic strength. A decentralized approach is taken to quality management, allowing all those involved to work as independently as possible and ensuring that the unique characteristics of individual subjects are taken into account. All quality assurance processes in teaching and studying are coordinated through centralized measures.

The Norwegian University of Technology and Science (NTNU) comprises Norway’s largest academic environment within teacher education and educational research. NTNU offers a broad portfolio of teacher education programs which alone count a total of 4000 teacher students.

The university school collaboration at NTNU has been going on since 2015. It is based on an equal partnership between NTNU, Trondheim Municipality and Trøndelag County and involves three university-schools; one elementary, one secondary and one upper secondary school. Through close collaboration between school-based teachers and researchers from the university, including joint practice-oriented R&D projects, the university-school collaboration aims to enhance quality both in teacher education and in schools. The university schools are "learning schools" that on the one side function as arenas for innovation and practice-relevant research, and on the other as a practice-recourse in NTNU's teacher education programs. Altogether this contributes to an integrated development of theory and practice that strengthens both educational research and educational practices - which ultimately benefits all students, both in schools and in teacher education.
