The increasing miniaturization and embedded presence of technology and artificial intelligence in our everyday life has made the vision of ambient intelligence (AmI) a reality. AmI can provide support like personalized and automated control of environments, e.g., control lights and heaters according to preferences or situational context, present desired information, or provide communication possibilities. This talk addresses methods to apply ambient intelligence and qualitative spatial and temporal reasoning to provide user support in spatially collocated and distributed teams. That is, we address formal representations of AmI allowing to model and analyse systems and specific situations as action or support triggers.

About the speaker:
Jasper van de Ven received his diploma in computer science at the University of Bremen 2009 and his doctoral degree in the Bremen Spatial Cognition Center in 2016. Current research comprises the utilization of Qualitative Spatial and Temporal Reasoning methods in combination with other logics to formalize ambient intelligence and privacy.
