Prof. Dr. rer. pol. Dr. h.c. Hans-Peter Blossfeld

Prof. Blossfeld leitete in den letzten 20 Jahren mehrere sozialwissenschaftliche Großforschungsvorhaben, darunter das Nationale Bildungspanel (NEPS) mit ca. 190 Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeitern (BMBF), das international vergleichende Globalife-Projekt mit 15 Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeitern, das von der Volkswagen Stiftung unterstützt wurde, das TransEurope-Projekt mit 20 Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeitern, welches von der European Science Foundation (ESF) finanziert wurde, und das eduLIFE-Projekt mit 11 Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeitern, das durch das European Research Council (ERC) unterstützt wurde. Zurzeit leitet er zusammen mit Prof. Sabine Weinert (Universität Bamberg) das DFG-Schwerpunktprogramm (SPP) 1646  „Education as a Lifelong Process“. Im Rahmen des SPP 1646 leitete er auch das DFG-Project „Determinanten der Herausbildung geschlechtsspezifischer Muster im Bildungs- und Berufsverlauf". Zusammen mit Prof. Rolf Becker (Universität Bern) führt er gegenwärtig langfristige empirische Längsschnittanalysen zum Einfluss des Modernisierungsprozesses auf den Eintritt in den Arbeitsmarkt und die spätere Berufskarriere von Männern und Frauen, die zwischen 1945 und 2008 geboren wurden, durch.

Prof. Blossfeld war auch in leitender Funktion bei der DFG-Forschergruppe BiKS sowie den ESF-Netzwerken „Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences 1 und 2“ (QMSS1 und QMSS2). In seiner Karriere arbeitete er in zwei DFG-Sonderforschungsbereichen mit: Beim Sfb3 an den Universitäten Frankfurt a. M. und Mannheim und beim Sfb186 an der Universität Bremen. Schließlich war er in den letzten 30 Jahren Leiter einer großen Zahl von Forschungsprojekten im Normalverfahren (mit bis zu 7 Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeitern), die durch die DFG, die ESF, die Geman-Israeli Foundation (GIF), die Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung (AvH), die National Science Foundation (NSF) in den USA sowie die Europäische Kommission in Brüssel (DG5 und DG12) finanziert wurden.
