The Social Ecology of Relational Mobility

Summary: The project will use a socio-ecological framework to systematically examine cultural variation in behavioral and psychological processes as adaptive responses calibrated to incentive structures present in different social ecologies. We will specifically focus on the role of relational mobility, defined as the amount of opportunities afforded to individuals in different social environments to form new relationships (Schug, Yuki, & Maddux, 2010). We will conduct a series of cross-cultural studies examining relational mobility as a driving force behind cross-societal variation in human psychology and behavior.
