3.1.3 The output page

WebCorp’s output page offers a range of options and information. The output in Figure 16 was retrieved with the HTML (KWIC) setting for the output format. For every retrieved page it first names the URL. By clicking the URL the user can access the webpage and check whether it is really relevant for the purpose of the search. The search term appears highlighted in yellow, thus making it easier to find the term on the webpage.

The option Plain Text shows the webpage without boilerplate elements and the option Word List shows a list of all the words found on the page sorted by frequency.

The concordance lines which are provided for each occurrence of the search term are the final piece of information for every entry.



At the bottom of the output page the user can see statistical information regarding the number of accessed pages and retrieved concordances as well as details about which search engine was used. In addition, a range of post search options is offered to further modify the search.
