collocation – the habitual meaningful co-occurrence of two or more words (a target word and its collocate(s)) in close proximity to each other (cf. Teubert 2007: 139-140; McEnery and Wilson 1996: 71) - phenomenon based on the fact that certain words are more likely to occur in combination with other words in certain contexts (cf. Baker 2006: 36-38).
