Beer tasting at Bierothek® (30 €; this event is limited to 30 people! Places are assigned on a first come, first served basis.)
Bamberg not only boasts a picturesque old town, it sometimes is called Germany’s "beer capital" due to the many breweries and brewery-pubs located in the town (eleven) and the larger region (more than sixty). The production of craft beers here is not a recent trend but rather a century-long tradition. In case you feel like getting a few sips of this diversity, we offer a tasting of local beers.
The tasting (approx. duration: two hours) will take place at "Bierothek®", a shop regularly offering over 350 different varieties, and will be led by master brewer and certified beer sommelier David Hertl. In the course of the evening, he will offer a selection of different draught and bottled beers from the region and will provide expert information on these as you go along. He will further introduce you to the smoked beer that is considered highly characteristic of Bamberg and will provide some historical insight into the Bamberg brewing tradition.
While some nibbles are provided during the event, a full meal in advance is highly recommended.
