The Faculty of Information Systems and Applied Computer Science awards the academic degree of doctor rerum politicarum (Dr. rer.pol.) in the field of Information Systems, and the degree of doctor rerum naturalium (Dr. rer. nat.) in the fields of Applied Computer Science and Computer Science.

Die Promovierendenberatung unterstützt alle Promotionsinteressierten und Promovierenden der Universität Bamberg durch Beratung, Information, Vernetzung und Veranstaltungen.

Für Absolvent*innen ausländischer Hochschulen ist das Welcome Center die erste Anlaufstelle. Für Bewerber*innen, die die Hochschulzugangsberechtigung in Deutschland erworben, den Master aber im Ausland absolviert haben, wird hier eine Äquivalenzprüfung der Hochschulzeugnisse vorgenommen. Bewerber*innen, die sowohl Hochschulzugangsberechtigung als auch weitere Hochschulabschlüsse außerhalb Deutschlands erworben haben, müssen im Welcome Center eine erste Zulassung beantragen.

Please note that the following documents and regulations are only legally binding in the German version and are therefore only available in German. If you need help filling out the documents, please contact the doctoral office or your supervisor.

For applicants with a foreign university degree, these documents are also required:

  • Application for recognition of the foreign university degree
  • Admission letter or equivalence certificate from the Welcome Center
  • If the university degree certificate is not issued in German, English or French, a corresponding translation prepared by a sworn translator.

Information on submitting the doctoral application

Everything is currently submitted digitally. Please scan the documents with the original signatures and send them as PDF files by e-mail to promotionsausschuss.wiai(at)uni-bamberg.de.
Please remember to submit the original documents at a later date. Please send them by post.
If you wish to submit your dissertation, please also send a digital version and deliver the printed copies by post.

Dissertations and habilitations are available for inspection in paper form in the Dean's Office. For dissertations, there is also the possibility of electronic inspection, with the prior consent of the doctoral candidates. Whether the additional option of electronic inspection is available will be communicated to those entitled to inspect the documents with the display notification.
