Any student wanting to take their first Wirtschaftsenglisch module should take a placement test. The placement test has a diagnostic function only:

• you do not need to prepare for the placement test
• the test has no connection to any of the Wirtschaftsenglisch module exams

The Wirtschaftsenglisch Placement Test is held online in this VC:

• test access begins: 16.09.2024
• test access closes: 10.10.2024

The test has to be completed within 60 minutes and cannot be interrupted.

Instructions

Register in FlexNow for the module level you would like to take.

• In the module descriptions, FlexNow directs you to take the Wirtschaftsenglisch Placement Test and gives you the VC password—read the module descriptions in FlexNow !
• Take the placement test.

Upon ending the test, you immediately receive your result, indicating your current language level.

• If this result is different to the level of module you have registered for in FlexNow, then you are strongly recommended to de-register from the module, and re-register for the recommended level module.

Overview

• In Wirtschaftsenglisch, each of the new modules has two exams.
• Each of the module exams has its own registration via the VC.
• So, to register to a module and take both exams, students need to make three registrations—one for the module (in FlexNow) and two for the exams (both via the module VC).

UnivIS

Each Wirtschaftsenglisch module consists of two 90 minute lessons per week.

• The lessons are set up in fixed pairings labelled A, B, C, etc.
• Check UnivIS to find the day/times involved for each lesson pairing—use the links on this webpage
• In FlexNow, only select lesson pairs for which you can actually attend both lessons involved

FlexNow Pool Registration

Registration to Wirtschaftsenglisch modules uses the FlexNow pool method:

1. You make registration selections in FlexNow for the module you want to attend--observe the minimum number of selections needed (see below).
2. On the Friday before the begin of the semester, FlexNow allocates you to one of your selections.

• Wirtschaftsenglisch 1—two selections (from A, B, C)
• Wirtschaftsenglisch 2—three selections (from A, B, C, D, E, F)
• Wirtschaftsenglisch 3—three selections (from A, B, C, D)
• Wirtschaftsenglisch 4—not available this semester
• Wirtschaftsenglisch 5—not available this semester

Remember, use UnivIS to help identify which selections to make.

2. FlexNow Allocation

On 11.10.2024, FlexNow will allocate you to one of your selections sending you an email with the details.

• Occasionally, FlexNow will allocate you to the waiting list—simply follow the instructions you are sent.

Exam Registration - VC Exam Tool

• Wirtschaftsenglisch exams are decentralised.
• A tool will be available in the module's VC for exam registration.

To gain access to the exam registration tool:

• Attend the first lesson.
• Enrol to the module VC using the password issued by the lecturer.

Register to the module exam or exams as needed for the semester:

• Wirtschaftsenglisch exam registration opens: 28.10.2024
• Wirtschaftsenglisch exam registration closes: 10.11.2024

Students who have fully completed one old module :

• already have 6 ECTS
• take one new module + take both module exams, giving 6 ECTS
• total : 12 ECTS

Students who have partially completed one old module :

• are sitting on 3 ECTS
• take a new module + one of the module exams, giving 3 ECTS
• take another new module + take both module exams, giving 6 ECTS
• total : 12 ECTS

Students who have partially completed two old modules :

• are sitting on 3 ECTS + 3 ECTS
• take one new module + take both module exams, giving 6 ECTS
• total : 12 ECTS

Remember, students taking a new module and completing both module exams can apply for a language certificate.

• This language certificate can be used instead of the Sprachenzentrum's Sprachnachweis.

• register in FlexNow to a new module of an equivalent language level to that of the partially completed old module—there is no need to take the placement test
• register in FlexNow to the exam that they need to complete the old module (see below).

Students who have partially completed two old Wirtschaftsenglisch modules prior to WS24-25 :

• register in FlexNow to a new module of an equivalent language level to that of the partially completed old modules—there is no need to take the placement test
• register in FlexNow to the exams that they need to complete the old modules (see below)

Wirtschaftsenglisch modules listed in FlexNow are the new modules

• all students can see and should register to these new modules

However, FlexNow also lists the exams for the old Wirtschaftsenglisch modules

• these FlexNow listed exams are only visible to students who have partially completed an old Wirtschaftsenglisch module prior to WS24-25
