UniGardening
FOR ALL UNIVERSITY MEMBERS
UniGardening enables all university members to plant, care for, and harvest vegetables and herbs on the university campus. Underutilized and sealed areas are greened with sustainable practices.
ECOLOGICAL DESIGN SPACE
UniGardening provides an ecological space on campus that brings together like-minded individuals from all generations and hierarchies.
FOR A SUSTAINABLE AND LIVABLE SOCIETY
With the goal of actively shaping a livable society through a culture of sustainability, participants engage with ecological issues. They develop joint solutions and implement them practically and informally in green spaces. Fun and positive experiences are prioritized over perfect outcomes. The project fosters a sense of community, raises environmental awareness, and creates spaces for inclusive living.
BUILDING & PLANTING RAISED BEDS
Anyone interested in building and planting raised beds or bringing their own ideas to life is invited to participate. The UniGardening VC course opens up dates for planning new raised beds and offers the opportunity to care for a bed. Interested university members can sign up. Events are also posted on the UniGardening Facebook page.

- Preserving the diversity of Bamberg's local varieties (the "green heritage")
GreenCampus
On July 13, 2018, a group of students, staff, and members of the Edible City initiative upcycled two old carts into raised beds. In spring 2018, UniGardening started by building raised beds on the Markus campus. Since then, more beds have been created at various locations, focusing on food production and pollinator protection. In cooperation with the Bamberg Environmental Department, 650 plants were added to 12 raised beds as part of the "Blühinitiative Bamberg."
