Brief Biography

Michael Fürnrohr studied economics at the University of Augsburg from 1982 to 1986. From 1987 to 1992 he was a research associate at the Institute for Applied Systems Research and Operations Research of the Faculty of Computer Science at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich, where he received his doctorate in 1992. He has been at the Bavarian State Office for Statistics since 1993, and since 2007 he has been Head of the Population, Households, Census, Employment, Finance, Judicial Affairs, Schools Department.
He has been teaching official statistics at the University of Bamberg since 2014. In 2019 he was appointed honorary professor for the subject "Official Statistics“.

Michael Fürnrohr is a member of the Board of the German Statistical Society (DStatG) and chairman of the committee for regional statistics.
