Short biography

Isabel Kusche studied sociology at the Technical University of Dresden and graduated in 2002 with a diploma. During her studies, she was a scholarship holder of the German Academic Exchange Service at the Graduate Faculty of the New School University, Department of Sociology, New York City, from 1999 to 2000.

After her graduation, she worked in 2002 on the project "Business and Employment in Transition: Company Employment Systems and Employment Security in the East-West German Comparison" at the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena, and subsequently, from 2002 to 2008, she was a research associate in Political Communication and Sociology of Risk at the Faculty of Sociology at Bielefeld University. There, she earned her PhD in Sociology in 2008. Following this, she held various academic positions at German universities (Osnabrück, Kiel, MSH Hamburg). From 2015 to 2018, she was a Marie Curie COFUND Fellow at the Aarhus Institute of Advanced Studies (AIAS) at Aarhus University, and from 2018 to 2019, she was a EURIAS Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities at the University of Edinburgh. After that, she worked as a researcher at the Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis in Karlsruhe until 2021.

Since October 2021, Isabel Kusche has been a Professor of Sociology with a focus on digital media at the Otto-Friedrich University of Bamberg.
