Dies academicus 2024 - School beekeeping team & Amelie Klebert awarded prizes

School beekeeping team and former student Amelie Klebert receive sustainability award from the Lyceum Foundation 2024 in the study and teaching category

The school beekeeping team was awarded the sustainability prize in the study and teaching category. The award recognizes the design of the “School Beekeeping I and II” courses, which have been offered since 2018. In these courses, students learn the basics of beekeeping in a practical way, including the ecological importance of bees, the keeping of honey bees and the challenges of modern beekeeping. In addition to theoretical knowledge, the focus is on the practical care of bee colonies. Students are trained to become multipliers who are able to establish and run school apiaries independently and sustainably.

We would also like to congratulate Amelie Klebert, who received an award for her interactive e-book “Toni and the cheeky fruit”. This child-friendly e-book promotes awareness of sustainable lifestyles and reflective consumer behavior. It has a high practical relevance and can be used at an early stage of children's development. It therefore lays an important foundation for sustainable education with social relevance. Amelie Klebert studied to become an elementary school teacher until the winter semester 2023/24, majoring in German studies and the didactic subjects of mathematics, biology and music.

We would also like to congratulate all other winners of the Dies academicus 2024 and thank the Lyzeumstiftung Bamberg for donating the prize.
