Set up eduVPN (independent of operating system)

Important note:

In order to set up the VPN connection, you must have a valid user account (BA number + corresponding password).

Download and install eduVPN

Open the official website of eduVPN:
https://www.eduvpn.org/client-apps/

Select Windows here and click Download for Windows. After successful download, double-click on the installation file and follow the installation routine.

Open the official website of eduVPN:
https://www.eduvpn.org/client-apps/

Select macOS here and click on Download for macOS. You will be redirected to the Apple Store. First click on Download and then on Install.

Either click on the following link or scan the QR-Code to get to the Playstore to install the eduVPN app:

Figure 1 shows the QR code that leads to the Playstore.

Figure 2 shows the QR code that leads to the Apple Store.

Select Linux here and click on Download for Linux. You can access the documentation for eduVPN for Linux here. Click here on Installation.
The eduVPN app is installed via the console. Please follow the installation instructions for the respective Linux distribution.

Set up eduVPN/Connect VPN

Set up eduVPN

Start the eduVPN app and enter Bamberg in the search mask.

Figure 3 shows the search screen in the eduVPN app.

Under Organization access, click on University ofBamberg. The selection option is displayed in Figure 4.

Your standard browser will open with the Shibboleth login screen. Enter your BA number and the corresponding password here.

Click here on Approve so that the eduVPN App has been successfully authorized. You can close the browser window again.

Establish eduVPN connection / disconnect

To connect to the university network, click/tap on the gray slider. The slider will turn green and after a few seconds you will be connected.

Figure 5 shows the eduVPN app with the slider highlighted in gray.

Figure 6 shows the activated VPN connection.

If the VPN connection is no longer required, click/tap on the slider again to disconnect.

Notes:

Additional permissions must be allowed on the Apple devices, please confirm the respective requests of the eduVPN app here.

If you are using an iPhone or iPad and you cannot connect, select the default iOS profile under Profiles and then try to connect again.
