Welcome to the website of the Chair of Physical Geography!

In the following we provide an overview over our research and teaching activities. We hope that you enjoy your visit on our website. For further inquiries please refer to our contact information provided below.

The Chair of Physical Geography offers numerous courses in the Teacher training programs in Geography (German only) and in the Bachelor of Geography. You will learn the basics of geomorphology and general geology, soil science, climatology, hydrology and vegetation geography. With analog and digital field techniques (e.g. geographical information systems, photogrammetry), laboratory methods, rock determination and remote sensing courses as well as field practicals and excursions, we focus on strongly application-oriented teaching. The regional focus is on Franconia, the Alps, the Mediterranean region and Iceland. Research focuses and interests lie in Germany (Bavarian Alpine Foreland), the Mediterranean region (Mallorca), Central Europe, North Africa, Asia, South America and the Caribbean (Cuba). The chair is also involved in the Master's program in Historical Geography (German only).

All current information for teaching can also be found in the digital information portal Physical Geography in the Virtual Campus (VC) of the University of Bamberg.
