The central administrative committee of the Academic Equal Opportunity Officer at the university is the Equal Opportunity Advisory Board. This committee meets two times per semester to discuss current problems, questions, and upcoming events. These meetings are open to all members of the university. All interested individuals are more than welcome to take part in ongoing work and planning.
Permanent Members of the Equal Opportunity Advisory Board:
- The Academic Equal Opportunity Officer
- The Faculty Equal Opportunity Officer
- Two elected student representatives
Permanent Guests of the Women's Affairs Advisory Board:
Student Representatives
The female student representatives act as contact persons for female students who are affected by discrimination/sexual harassment or who have questions about the work of the Academic Equal Opportunity Officer and the Academic Equal Opportunity Office. They represent the female students of the University of Bamberg and their concerns on the Equal Opportunity Advisory Board and they report to the Academic Equal Opportunity Officer on incidents that affect students. The student body elects two female student representatives for the Equal Opportunity Advisory Board every two years. These representatives do not necessarily have to be part of the Student Representation (Studierendenvertretung), but they should be interested in supporting women’s issues and the anti-discrimination work of the Equal Opportunity Advisory Board.
You can contact the student representatives via the Academic Equal Opportunity Office.

Statement on Gender-Neutral Language Usage (2021)
The Women's Affairs Advisory Board of the University of Bamberg explicitly welcomes and is committed to the use of gender-neutral language in all areas of life, study, and work at the University of Bamberg. Gender-neutral language usage is an essential step in the efforts to achieve gender equality. The University-wide Women's Representatives have already drawn attention to research on this topic through resources such as the lecture series Sprache.Macht.Geschlecht and in a kUNIgunde blog post. Additionally,, the University-wide Women's Representatives provide recommendations for gender-neutral language usage. It must also be made clear that gender-neutral language usage is not an evaluation criterion for examinations at the University of Bamberg.
