No strategy without sustainability - No sustainability without strategy

Whether it is climate change, the loss of biodiversity, poverty, child mortality, poor education systems, or other threats to humanity, mankind is facing a series of tremendously huge challenges. If we aim to preserve "liveable" conditions on our planet and achieve equality within and across generations, sustainable development is not an option, but the only possible strategy.

For companies, this situation encompasses threats, but also opportunities. In any case, they hold responsibility. As corporate citizens they have the ability and indeed duty to contribute to a sustainable future, today more than ever.

As a consequence, managing sustainability requires top management strategic attention. Sustainability is a strategic aim and task for any company that wants to ensure its future.

At the same time, sustainability is a very practical task. It requires concrete initiatives and goals. But it needs a strategic vision with long-term goals and dedicated resources.

  • No corporate strategy without a clearly defined strategic angle on sustainability.
  • No sustainable management in a company without a strategic perspective.

These two sentences guide our SAS programme!

Individual study pathways

The study and exam rules for the SAS degree program allow you as a student to tailor the content of your studies to your own interests and future career aspirations.

Many elective choices are available, from management, economics, political sciences, and information systems. They can be combined flexibly in different ways.

The teaching program during a possible semester abroad can also be planned individually and quite freely by students.

Interdisciplinarity and practical orientation

The core subjects of the program are corporate strategy and sustainable management.

But interdisciplinarity is a guiding principle in the SAS program. Sustainability management requires a broad range of knowledge and skills.

Our program integrates modules from such diverse perspectives as strategy, finance, accounting, sales and marketing, production, supply chain management, legal studies, human resource management, macro economics, or European politics.

And while SAS is a master of science with a solid education in research, we

  • integrate a large number of guest speakers from different industries, NGOs, public administrations,
  • we offer seminars conducted with companies,
  • we allow students to write master theses in cooperation with companies,
  • and we cooperate closely with companies to ensure what we teach is highly relevant in their daily activities.

A truly international experience

SAS is an international program by definition! Fully taught in English, we invite potential participants from around the world to join us in Bamberg. Sustainability regards everyone, everywhere!
